Versatile in size, this plate is perfect for savoury or sweets, shared or solo. All pieces are designed to be mixed and matched.

All pieces are made by hand using terracotta clay, which is refined to create lightweight dinnerware with a strength and durability that rivals traditional stoneware. Fired to a mid temperature to give a beautiful rich red colour. The iron in the clay is seen through the grey-blue tin glaze and results in uniquely varying speckles around the edges of each piece.The shine of brightly coloured glazes contrasts with the traditional warm red colour and silky feel of the raw clay bases.  Whether moulded from thinly rolled slabs or slip cast, these pieces are fine and light. Unglazed bases on smaller pieces are hand polished with a diamond pad, while platters and large pieces are treated with beeswax to seal the clay and enhance the rich natural colour.

Silvia’s collections are a contemporary interpretation of simple historical objects with a strong focus on function and colour. While the origins of her early work can be traced to her Slovakian heritage, ongoing research takes her enquiring eye to peasant ceramic ware from diverse sources.
