Eggcups

Handmade in the United Kingdom.

Inspired by a trip to Kuwait and its traditional Kahawa cup, these cups bring a colourful addition to the breakfast routine. Surprisingly versatile for a boiled egg or a shot of espresso.

All pieces are made by hand using terracotta clay, that has been fired to a mid temperature to give a beautiful rich red colour. The iron in the clay is seen through the grey-blue tin glaze and results in uniquely varying speckles around the edges of each piece.

Silvia’s collections are a contemporary interpretation of simple historical objects with a strong focus on function and colour. While the origins of her early work can be traced to her Slovakian heritage, ongoing research takes her enquiring eye to peasant ceramic ware from diverse sources. With a passion and respect for crafts, Silvia sees these objects as a vital element of our cultural and social history and is uncompromising in her research and development.
