Maker’s Story
After growing up in the bushy outskirts of Melbourne, followed by a stint in the inner city and a career in health research and policy, Jenn and her husband made a sea/tree change to Northern NSW in 2009. Making this move gave her the space to start exploring her creative passions, and a long held desire to work with clay.
Having the opportunity to take an introductory course in ceramics at a local studio, she immediately felt at home at the wheel, Jenn discovered a passion and drive for creating ceramics, and her eyes were opened to a new way of experiencing design and art.
In her studio nestled in her garden in Mullumbimby, she creates elegant, functional, hand crafted ceramics. Jenn’s wheel-thrown and hand-built high-fired stoneware and porcelain pieces reflect her love of gardening, travel, entertaining and contemporary design. Her approach to her work is also strongly influenced by her appreciation of Japanese aesthetics. Her use of high-fired clays means that her pieces are durable enough for everyday use. The response from others to her work has been incredibly fulfilling, providing great satisfaction from the thought that the pieces she makes will be used and enjoyed by people for years to come.
